"Hutan Wanagama was established in 1967 as an experimental reforestation project by UGM to combat the severe deforestation that had turned much of Gunungkidul into barren limestone. Over decades, it has become a symbol of environmental recovery, with researchers discovering several previously unknown orchid species within its restored canopy."
