"A great spot for History & Culture Buffs, Landscape Photographers and Art & Craft Lovers — Candi Ijo is definitely worth adding to your Jogja trip!"
Perched at 410 meters above sea level, Candi Ijo is the highest-elevation temple in the Yogyakarta region, crowning a hilltop with a spectacular panoramic view stretching over Prambanan plains, Adisutjipto runway, and the distant southern ocean.
"The name "Ijo" comes from the Javanese word for "green," referencing the lush emerald hillside on which the temple sits. Built between the 10th and 11th centuries, it was originally a sacred meditation site for Hindu priests who believed the elevated position brought them closer to the heavens."
